(Shintaro) alright BOOM, can you speak to me about your BMX life?
* why were you started riding BMX and how?
* what inspired you to start riding?
* how long hours riding per day? per week?
* how to learning new skills?
* usually do you riding alone or with some riders?
* how to keeping motivation for riding?

(BOOM)
when I was study in grade 9 (15 years old), I’m took up flatland bmx a freestyle type of bmx cycling done on smooth, flat surfaces. With nobody to coach me, I’m worked with other bmx riders and looked for tips on the internet. I’m learning to new trick by video and some website for example www.flatmattersonline.com and www.global-flat.com. I practice 3 hours per day, beginning at 7 pm, - 10 pm every day. I practiced with other riders at a park, and we tried to learn new riding tricks by watching clips of riders on the internet some time I like to see street video. Since the day I first saw a group of flatlanders spinning their bikes around in the playground, I knew he had come to the right place. After practicing for a year, I was ready to participate in a competition. I lost at his first contest, but it was a worthwhile experience for the rookie rider. I hard work paid off in the end, leading to his current high ranking. I was eventually ranked no.1 in the amateur category, and now I one of the top three in the professional category in Thailand. I think that competition inspired me to practice more than before so that I wouldn't lose next time. I have a sense, many amateurs overseas are as good as our professional riders, so I always advise young riders to keep practicing seriously, rookie riders should always arrive on time for practice and focus on developing their skills, rather than just hanging out with friends. Any athlete, whether a world champion or grass roots player, can benefit from mental training, for the simple reason that your mind controls every physical movement.
Flatland is an exhausting, time consuming discipline in which the rider learns different balance points and centre-of-gravity-in-motion techniques through repetition and old fashioned trial and error. Some tricks can be learned in hours, while others may take years to master. it makes you wonder about the recipe for success. Maybe it's an athletic mind which focuses on mental concentration, stamina and training. Remember that bicycles are fun, but they aren't toys. Even a small fall off a bike can cause serious injury. Take the time to practice cycle safety, if not for yourself, then for your loved ones.

-Thanks for everything that I have today.

普段のリンク A~J は B、C、D、H、I のみに。

50% change

i checked consistency about my links at competition Malacca.
i have to improve a little for next stage.

no change (A, C, D, G, I) -pull again.
little (B, F, H) -make more interesting.
almost (E, J) -make more hard.

the format for training is still 10 links 5 times.
spending around 90-120 minutes per day.

here is always summer season.
coming soon the next one.

(Heru -H) I started BMX in 2006, was street rider. and in 2007 my shoulder got crack during jumping on the dirt.. I started flatland after that.

(S) i know you are famous professional rider of Indonesia. since when you are professional? and how about your life?

I focus to management of the store such as promotion, and care about monthly sales turnover. and besides that I holding final semester of college, need to do a lot of tasks now. also I should attend to BMX events in Indonesia, as Hage show, IOXC. after college, if I can be more active about attending competitions to other countries, Europe it's my hope. and would finalize about brand that I will make. but now I enjoy with sponsors, because they supporting to me by all the way.

Ares bikes、We the people、Odyssey、GT、他、のディストリビュータです。
Snapback、T-shirt、Jeans、Denim、Shirt、Beanie、他。
「Piero shoes」

(Shintaro -S) do you riding BMX since when?

(Calvin -C) I got my first BMX when I was around 15.

(S) did you remember impression of BMX when you ware tried first?

(C) I thought it was really cool but yet challenging at the same time.

(S) what trick did you learn first? second and third? why?

(C) They were probably the bunnyhop, hang 5 and steamroller. I guess cause they were the basics then when I started.

(S) how to learn your riding skill? (e.g. video? vhs, dvd, online? or some rider?)

(C) Mostly by watching vhs tapes (Intrikat, Flatland manifesto etc.) and also with a bunch of riders I hung out with.

(S) do you have good or bad memory during learn your basic skills?

(C) It was fortunate for me when I started because there was a group of flatland riders where I lived, riding with them was fun and that helped pushed my progression.

(S) how long hours ride a day? how many days per a week?

(C) Recently I have been able to ride about 5 days a week. 2-3 hrs alone on weekdays and up to 8 hrs on weekends if we have a session in the city.

(S) what (when/where) is next stage (competitions)? how about your training for them?

(C) I’ll be competing in Flatark (Japan) and Flatdev (Malaysia) in the next coming months. Both contests are pretty good motivation for me to push myself to see how my riding has progressed. I don't often dial in my links so I’m trying to work towards that direction to see how much I can improve with my consistency. Some days I’ll just mess around with new ideas and take a break from my usual links. Other than riding whenever I can, I try to mentally prepare myself and keep my body healthy.

(S) btw, i know you are started the project about clothing. you may introduce to here also?

(C) It is a clothing label (DO) /creative collective (The Do Collective) together with my girlfriend, the motivation for us was the want to create something of our own. Apart from the label, we intend to collaborate with other creative individuals to work on other forms of media under The Do Collective. It took us quite awhile saving up, getting things into place, almost 2 years since we first had the idea. Definitely glad things went through and finally able to launch it this year.
Please check it out at www.thedocollective.com

(S) congratulations!

(S) any your message in here? (introduce your sponsors etc)

(C) Shout out to Shawnn Lai (Aresbikes Singapore) for always supporting me and my riding. Thank you Shintaro for the interview!

(S) you are welcome!! i will visit in Singapore when got bigger my daughter..

www.thedocollective.com
